Ralph J. E. Rothschild Obituary (1929 - 2015)

Ralph J. E. Rothschild, age 86, passed away on December 13, 2015. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Margot Rothschild; brothers, Yehuda and Harold Rothschild; son, Gary Rothschild. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth; son, Daniel Rothschild; daughter, Naomi (Rob) Cohen; sister, Jacqueline (Gerry) Lieder; grandchildren, Jonathan Cohen and fiancé, Amanda, Benjamin Cohen, Erin (Mike) Kaminski and Kara (Russell) Weidle; great granddaughter, Ariella Kaminski; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ralph was born on September 17, 1929 in Germany. He survived the Holocaust and immigrated to the United States in 1948 and went on to serve his new country in the US Army. He met the love of his life, Ruth and they were married in 1953. One of the first Jewish people to be hired by IBM he worked for them for 30 years. Ralph went on to work for the JCC of Columbus for 19 years. Devoted member and past President of Congregation Tifereth Israel and Temple Israel in Silver Spring, MD, and served on the Holocaust Survivor Committee at Jewish Family Services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 16 at CONGREGATION TIFERETH ISRAEL, 1354 E. Broad St. with Rabbi Harold Berman officiating. Shiva will be observed at Kensington Place, 1001 Parkview Blvd. 43219 Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday from 4:30 – 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Tifereth Israel or Zusman Hospice in his memory.
