Lee Eric Budin passed away following his battle with Pancreatic Cancer on October 27th at age 57 while residing in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was raised in Mansfield, OH by Nicki (who precedes him) and Alan Budin. He was the youngest of three children and precedes Rick Budin and Pam Kusma. He married Amy Budin (Gottlieb) on September 1, 1991 and they had four amazing children (Samantha, Jacob, Marshall, and Victoria).
Lee attended Yale University for his undergraduate degree and The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his medical training at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as a general pediatrician.
He was a beloved community pediatrician for over twenty-eight years and was a pivotal force in the Central Ohio medical community, serving as a managing partner of Eastglen Pediatrics and then Building Blocks Pediatrics (BBP) as well as helping shape Central Ohio Primary Care as its President.
He excelled in his roles as the Administrative Medical Director for Nationwide Children’s and the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Anne & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital to lead their Center for Excellence in Chicago. After continued success, he served as Driscoll Children’s Hospital’s first Chief Medical Officer. Lee’s drive to improve healthcare quality never wavered as he impacted communities near and far.
Despite his extensive professional accomplishments, Lee is best known for the relationships he formed and impacts he made on nearly everyone he interacted with. He mentored hundreds of professionals, new parents, and patients; his unique ability to find and extract the best in everyone will leave an impact far beyond the average man.
Lee’s hobbies included playing sports when he was younger, playing poker competitively (he won 6th place out of more than 4,200 entrants in the 2014 World Series of Poker Seniors’ event) and playing with his dogs. He was an avid gardener, fierce competitor, beloved mentor, and all-around goofball
