Irwin E. Galan Obituary (1935 - 2009)

GALAN Irwin E., age 74, of Columbus, passed away November 17, 2009. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Murray and Claire Galan, Irwin graduated from Ohio State in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Lucent Technologies. He loved his family, traveling, Ohio State football and spending time with his many friends. A member of Temple Israel, he spent much of his free time serving the community, volunteering to help children read, preparing food for Ronald McDonald House and was treasurer of Wexner Heritage Auxiliary. Survived by his wife, Wendy; sister, Harriet Grail, mother-in-law, Fran Podell; son, Alan (Holly) Galan; daughter Paula (John) Campanelli; grandchildren Asher and Isa Galan, Claire and Peter Campanelli and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.. Funeral service 1 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Temple Israel, 5419 E. Broad St., with Rabbi Misha Zinkow officiating. Burial to follow at New Temple Israel Cemetery.
