Harry A. Topolosky Obituary (1920 - 2010)

Harry A. Topolosky, age 89, passed away on January 2, 2010. Preceded in death by sisters, Frances Benis, Inez Berman and Mary A. Topolosky and brothers, Al Topy, 1st Lt. Maurice K. Topson, and Nelson J. Topson. Harry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred; son, Dr. Maury K. (Janis) Topolosky of Champaign, IL; daughter, Phyllis (Jeff) Solove; brother, Myron C. Topson; grandchildren, Sara (Ryan) Harkins, Jennifer R. Topolosky, Jason B. Solove, Rachel (Billy) Murray and Jonathan Solove; great grandchildren, Alexandria and Zoey Solove, Sammy and Casey Murray and Jacob Harkins and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Harry was a lifetime member of Congregation Agudas Achim where he was past President of Brotherhood, and served on the Board of Trustees for 30 years. He also served on the membership committee, Israeli Bonds Committee and Usher Committee. His favorite program was Minyannaires, which touched the lives many young men and women. He was the Recipient of Agudas Achim’s Flowers for the Living and Pride of Brotherhood Awards. Harry is a World War II veteran, serving as Staff Sergeant in the Army’s Thunderbird Division, where he received a Purple Heart with 2 clusters, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Medal and Presidential Unit Citation. He was a prisoner of war for 16 months in the European theater. He was past Commander and Quartermaster of the Jewish War Veterans Capitol Post 122, and Sr. Vice Commander for the State of Ohio Jewish War Veterans. He was a board member of the Columbus Jewish Historical Society, JCC Senior Olympics committee and Jewish Community Red Cross Blood Drive committee. Harry was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Funeral service 11AM on Sunday, January 3rd at CONGREGATION AGUDAS ACHIM, 2767 E. Broad St. with Rabbi Melissa Crespy and Rabbi Cary Kozberg officiating. Shiva will be observed at The Creekside at the Village.
