Hannah Tinnes Obituary (1917 - 2012)

Long-time New Hyde Park resident Hannah Tinnes, 95, passed quietly into eternal rest on December 27, 2012 following 2 months of excellent care at the New Albany Gardens and Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. After 60 years on Devonshire Drive, Hannah moved to Columbus in 2008 to be closer to more family members. She enjoyed her last 4 years living comfortably in her own home until she broke her hip during a fall in October. Born 1917 in The Bronx, Hannah Lesser married Broadway musician Michael Tinnes, who pre-deceased her in 1976. Hannah enjoyed a 30 year career at Saks 5th Avenue Garden City, where she had much success managing the Men’s, Children’s and Jewelry departments. She was a remarkably philosophical woman who provided life-long guidance to her four loving children: Joan Meyer, Gary, Alan and Marc Tinnes; six loving grandchildren: Karen Meyer, Jennifer Davies, Christopher, Matthew and Brett Tinnes, and Stacy Tertany. She is also survived by three great-granchildren: Ruslan and Liza Davies and Boden Tertany. Hannah’s carefully measured advice how to live a loving and close family life will always be remembered.
