Gordon G. "Bud" Zeidman

–

Gahanna, Ohio

Gordon G. “Bud” Zeidman, died February 13, 2015. He was 88 years old. A Cincinnati boy, Bud graduated from Hughes High School in 3 years, worked his way through and graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering, and after a short stint at General Electric in Evandale, was hired by Battelle in Columbus. During his thirty-some years at Battelle, Bud contributed to several patents and worked on varied systems engineering assignments, including the Mississippi River levee design, the baggage-handling system at DFW, and early Xerox technology. In 1980 he earned his MBA from Capital University night school. He was active in Congregation Tifereth Israel and served as President of the Men’s Club and then as President of the Congregation from 1979-1981. Bud’s interests were wide-ranging; from photography to Italian Opera, to backpacking in New Zealand and the Colorado Rockies. He adored wild-caught Alaskan Sockeye but totally disdained eggplant. Bud is predeceased by parents, Alfred and Lee Zeidman; daughter, Deborah, and grandmother, Bessie Jourman (whose yahrzeit he never forgot, even after 50 years). He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jennie; son, Barry; granddaughter, Diane Lee; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Leonard Streicher and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, February 15 at Congregation Tifereth Israel Katz Chapel, 1354 E. Broad St. with Rabbi Harold Berman officiating. Interment will follow at New Tifereth Israel Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the Zeidman residence on Sunday immediately following the service and on Monday at 5:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Congregation Tifereth Israel.
