Gloria W. Vlosky Obituary (1937

Gloria W. Vlosky of Minneapolis, formerly of Syracuse, NY and West Orange, NJ, died Friday, September 2, 2011. She was born on July 14, 1937 in Poughkeepsie, NY, and was the daughter of the late Allen & Sylvia Weisman. On July 5, 1959, she married Milton E.Vlosky, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1968. Gloria is survived by her son Bernard Vlosky (Junghee) Minneapolis, MN; daughters Linda Vlosky Zack (Rabbi Howard Zack) Columbus, OH, Andra Vlosky Goldman (Craig) of West Orange, NJ: her grandchildren, Etana, Shifra, and Meira Zack and Michael, Deena and Seth Goldman; brothers, Donald Weisman (Sheila)Amherst, NY, John Weisman (Renee) Poughkeepsie; and several nieces and nephews. Widowed at a very young age with three small children, Gloria moved forward with vigor and love and raised her children with great values, work ethics and the knowledge that they could be anything they wanted to be. The reality is they are. Educated in local schools and graduated from the State Teachers College in Buffalo, she worked as a Special Education Teacher in the Syracuse school district for many years. Gloria was ardent fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Orangemen of Syracuse University. She was honored by throwing out the first pitch of a recent Twins game. Gloria was a strong and independent woman who was loved by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 5th in Poughkeepsie, NY. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
