Florence H. Mellman Obituary (1925 - 2015)

Florence “Faye” Hilda Cooper Mellman, age 90, passed away on April 30, 2015 in Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ida and Ben Cooper; sister, Sarah (Eddie) Mendlowitz; brother, Jack (Fayne) Cooper. Faye was born on April 3, 1925 in Columbus, OH and graduated from South High School. Faye and her husband Edwin were married for 54 years and reared 4 kids and kevelled over 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her family was her life. She is survived by her husband, Edwin; sons, Ben (Miriam), Aaron (Lisa), Nathan (Nicola); daughter, Judy; grandchildren, Suri (Ahron), Chaya (Zalman), Dovi (Goldie), Aidel (Meir), Esti (Shlomo), Shmulie, Brachie, Shira, Shevie, Devorah, Ahuvah, Yaakov Efraim, Sammy, Jacob, Jennie, Reuben, Gabriel, Tim, Hannah and Ella; great grandchildren, Bina, Shmulie, Avrumi, Adina, Tova Malka, Esther, Bracha, Malka, Mordechai, Sara, Chaim, Bracha, Baila, Sarah and Adina. The Mellman family wishes to thank Angie, Dee, Tameaka, Lameaka, Kameaka, Tiara, Kate and all the other wonderful caregivers for their care and assistance the past couple of years, and Dr. Kakos for a bypass from 1985 that lasted until the very end. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 1 at EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. with Rabbi Chaim Ackerman officiating. Burial will follow at New Beth Jacob Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the Mellman residence in Columbus on Sunday followed by Shiva in Baltimore. Memorial contributions are preferred to Columbus Torah Academy or Congregation Ahavas Sholom.
