Felice June Schiffman Obituary (2007)

Felice J. Schiffman passed away peacefully on May 13, 2007. Born in Chicago on June 26, 1933, Felice came to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University. At OSU, the romance that would be the cornerstone of her life began. She and her loving husband, Gordon, enjoyed 54 years of fabulous matrimony. They were each others best friend and partner. Felice had an exceptional talent for creating nurturing environments and Gordon has always given her credit for allowing him to excel. She was a gourmet cook before culinary skills became fashionable. Her knowledge of nutrition and vegetarianism were avant-garde for her time. She was extremely well read and possessed an incredible sense of humor. She had a wonderfully insightful way of looking at the world. Besides being dedicated to her family, Felice also served through the years on many charitable boards and was a member of Temple Israel and Temple Beth Shalom. Predeceased by her parents, William and Fannie Prosk, Felice is survived by her husband, Gordon, of New Albany; sons, Bill (Lynne Aronson) and Andy Schiffman, both of Columbus; sister, Hermine Goldman, of Des Moines; and nieces, Wendy Goldman, of Los Angeles, and Susie Goldman, of Boston. Felice will always be remembered as a great wife, mother and friend. Her positive effect on all of us will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 5419 E. Broad St., with Rabbi Misha Zinkow officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad St., immediately afterward. A celebration of her life will be held at the New Albany Country Club, 1 Club Lane (off of St. Rt. 62), on Wednesday evening, May 16, 2007 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
