Erna R. Gilbert Obituary (1928 - 2016)

Erna R. Gilbert, age 87, passed away on March 7, 2016. Preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Gilbert and parents, Joseph and Bertha Sherman. Erna was born in Mannheim, Germany and fled Hitler's Germany with her parents in 1938. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Professionally, she was proud of her almost 3 decades of service to distinguished New York ophthalmologist Alan Weseley, MD and his associate, Samuel Miller, MD. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen (Frank) Gilbert Castellana; son, Mitchell Gilbert and grandchildren, Jenny Castellana and Paul Castellana. Funeral services and burial will be in Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wexner Heritage Village in her memory.
